Mesothelioma Cases

The rare cancer mesothelioma has been found to almost exclusively be caused by asbestos exposure. Now known as a carcinogen, asbestos has been banned in most forms in the United States for over 30 years. Use of asbestos was, however, very high in the decades leading up to the asbestos ban and resulted in tens of thousands of workers being exposed to a substance which is known to cause a great variety of serious illnesses including mesothelioma. The tragedy is that almost all of those who are now being diagnosed with mesothelioma were never informed of the risks of working with and around asbestos, even if their employers knew that asbestos had been linked to health problems.

Judges the world over have found employers to be liable for their former employees’ exposure to asbestos as well as the subsequent development of mesothelioma and other asbestos related illnesses. Mesothelioma cases tend to focus on the fact that employers have the responsibility of ensuring the safety of their employees during the course of their working day. In many cases, employers knew more about the health hazards associated with asbestos than they revealed to their employees. It is also argued that asbestos exposure could have been avoided or reduced if employers had shared everything they knew about asbestos with their employees.

Although legal responsibility for an individual varies on a case by case basis, numerous verdicts against employers have resulted from mesothelioma related cases. Maune Raichle has helped hundreds in their quest to receive compensation for asbestos related mesothelioma.
